Dakar 2021: First Dakar kilometres completed

01/02/2021

  • 18th and 28th place for the Yamaha YXZ1000R prototype
  • Tomorrow’s opening leg takes the competitors to Bisha

The two Yamaha YXZ1000R prototypes have completed their first eleven kilometres against the clock at the Dakar 2021. The sandy Prologue route, 30 kilometres outside Jeddah, provided an opportunity for the competitors to warm up for the main event. Swedes Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist finished 18th on their first Dakar stage. The only all-woman team at this year’s Dakar – Camelia Liparoti (ITA) and Annett Fischer (GER) ended the Prologue in 28th place.

Mattias Ekström: “They were our first kilometres at a Dakar. Emil and I had a good stage without any major issues.”
