- Tomorrow: Marathon stage into the “Empty Quarter”
The tenth stage to Shaybah sent the participants on a 114 kilometre detour into the “Empty Quarter”. A foretaste of the next two stages, which will also be held completely in the sandy desert area. Today, Jakub “Kuba” Przygonski and Armand Monleon secured sixth place in the MINI JCW Rally Plus. Sebastian Halpern and Bernardo “Ronnie” Graue finished twelfth. The two MINI JCW Buggy crews Denis Krotov / Konstantin Zhiltsov and Sheikh Khalid Al-Qassimi / Ola Floene finished the day in 17th and 23rd place.
Kuba Przygonski: “An exhausting stage with lots of dunes. Rather short dunes – accelerate, brake, cross dune, accelerate. But we had fun. The navigation was not so difficult today. But tomorrow Armand will certainly have more work.”
Tomorrow, the second marathon stage is on the agenda for the participants. This time, however, they will have to manage completely without their mechanics. There will be no service after the stage. The 274 km long stage will mainly consist of sand and dunes.
