Dakar Rally: Peterhansel departs early

After a hard impact at kilometer 26 of the ninth special stage co-driver David Castera complained of severe back pain. The Frenchman was transported to hospital in Lima. Stéphane Peterhansel is unharmed and was able to return the car to the X-raid service park. A restart is not possible.
Stéphane Peterhansel: “We came over a dune and landed head-on in the next dune. Everything went so fast that David, who was looking at the road book at that moment, didn’t expect the impact.”
