Baja TT Cuenca: Top 10 position for Maria Gameiro

- Muddy tracks become a major challenge
The strong duo of Maria Gameiro and Rosa Romero teamed up once again in the MINI JCW Rally 3.0d. At the Baja TT Cuenca, the opening event of the FIA European Baja Cup, they secured ninth place overall. At the same time, they were the second-best Ultimate vehicle. The tracks and weather conditions otherwise tended to favor the small and nimble side-by-sides.
As it rained almost the entire time on both days – only briefly interrupted by a little sunshine – the tracks were completely wet and muddy. This makes it difficult, especially for the large Ultimate vehicles, to attack. Nevertheless, Gameiro and Romero successfully brought the MINI JCW Rally 3.0d through the stages. The duo had to stop once to change a tire, which cost a lot of time under these conditions.
Despite the difficult conditions, the two managed to break into the top 10 with ninth place overall. The next FIA W2RC event is the Ruta 40 in Argentina. X-raid will announce the line-up shortly.

Maria Gameiro (MINI JCW Rally 3.0d): „It was a very tough Baja. It rained almost the whole time. On Saturday we were unlucky when we hit a tree root which caused a puncture. Changing it in all that mud was a real challenge. Later we had a technical problem and had to drive slower. Today was almost even more difficult as it was super slippery. But we are very happy because, despite the efforts, we were the second-fastest Ultimate vehicle. The track conditions were better for the SSVs and the Challengers. As it looks, we are leading the Ultimate standings of the FIA European Baja Cup, as Recuenco is not scoring points.”
